A prolific striker for club and country, George Holley was part of Sunderland’s 1912-13 side that clinched the First Division title.

The season prior he finished joint-leading goalscorer in England with 25 goals, and he also represent the Three Lions ten times scoring eight goals.

He spent 15 years on Wearside notably scoring a hat-trick in the 9-1 victory over Newcastle United at St James’ Park on 5 December 1908.
