The last Sunderland team to win at Wembley is usually thought to be the 1973 FA Cup winners, but Sunderland won another trophy at Wembley in 1979 - albeit at Wembley Arena!
On 28 November 1979, a team of Chris Turner, Shaun Elliott, Kevin Arnott, Mick Buckley and Stan Cummins, with John Cooke as sub, won the tournament without conceding a goal in their four games.
Ipswich Town and West Bromwich Albion were beaten before the semi-final was won 4-0 against Newcastle United.
In the final, Brighton were beaten 2-0 with Arnott maintaining his record of scoring in every round.
