Chairman Stewart Donald has laid down a challenge to Sunderland fans as he completes his first full week in charge of the club.
With over 16,000 season cards already sold, Stewart has challenged the club’s supporters to beat last season’s total of 20,000 and to help them do so he has extended the deadline to purchase reduced price season cards until 5pm on Friday 22 June.
Sunderland fans have been the heartbeat of the club since 1879, and the club’s new owner knows that they will play a vital role as the club begins its League One campaign.
Ahead of the new season, the Stadium of Light is offering some of the best value seats in football, including free season cards for under-8s as part of the club’s commitment to welcoming the next generation of supporters (when bought with an under-22, adult or over 65 season card in the Family Zone). Other prices have been reduced by up to 40% for this limited period.
These special prices are also guaranteed for three seasons for any supporter who buys before the deadline. After June 22, prices are set to rise.
Speaking about the initiative, the new chairman explained why the red and white army can provide the perfect platform for success during the 2018-19 season, and beyond.
“The reception I’ve received from the Sunderland fans has been absolutely incredible and we want to give something back to them in recognition of this, so we’re extending the early purchase price period for a couple of weeks.
“We are excited by the challenge of turning this football club around. We know we can’t do it on our own, but as one we can become unstoppable and take Sunderland back to where it should be.”
He added: “The last few years have been tough for fans – that’s an understatement – but together we can make the Stadium of Light a fortress once more, so I would urge supporters to join me next season.
“A new era starts now, and there’s no time to waste.”
As well as reduced prices, the club is making it easier for fans to pay for their season card with a direct debit scheme which consists of three equal payments taken on or around 1 July, 1 September and 1 November. The deadline to join the direct debit scheme is 4pm, on Friday 8 June.

The easiest way to buy or renew a season card is via the online box office.
If supporters already have an online customer account with the club, then they need to simply log in using the link below and click on 'Season Cards' in the main menu.
Alternatively, if they do not have an account, they can use the ‘Register’ link below to sign up.

To buy using a cheque, supporters should complete and return this season card form in an envelope, enclosing payment.
To pay with cash, they should visit the Stadium of Light ticket office in person.
