Team news: A fitness update from the camp

Phil Parkinson has confirmed he has no major injury concerns to contend with ahead of Saturday’s encounter with Wycombe Wanderers.

Luke O’Nien and Joel Lynch have been struggling with illness, but look to have made a full recovery to face the Chairboys at the Stadium of Light this weekend.

And speaking to the media on Thursday, the Sunderland manager provided the latest team news following a week’s work on the training pitch.

“Preparations have been good for us,” he said.

“It was key after the Christmas period to get some rest into the lads and make sure their recovering was right.

“We needed to get the balance in the intensity of the training with having a bit of time off right.

“We go into what is an important weekend now.”

He continued: “We don’t have any major injury issues.

“We have had a bit of illness around the building this week and obviously Lynchy missing the Lincoln City game.

“Luke O’Nien was off in the early part of the week with it too but hopefully that’s the end of it because there has been quite a bit of it going around.”
