We're still fighting: Oviedo targets midweek win

Bryan Oviedo has urged his team-mates to ‘keep going’ahead of Tuesday's game at Leicester City (KO 7.45pm).

It was a frustrating afternoon for the Black Cats at Vicarage Road on Saturday, with a tenacious defensive display yielding no reward as Miguel Britos pounced to seal three points for Walter Mazzarri’s side.

At the other end chances were few and far between with Adnan Januzaj spurning Sunderland’s best opportuntities, as Didier Ndong’s introduction added a fresh spark in the final third.

And although defeat was tough to take, Oviedo insists the Black Cats will keep fighting.

“We have nine games and a lot of points to play for, we need to show a strong mentality.

“Everyone’s doing well in training and we’re trying to do our best, you can see we’re fighting.

“We need goals,” continued the defender. “That is the most important thing for us because we defended really well.

“We need to keep going because this is not over, but we need to change things in the next games.

“The beauty of playing football is that next game we can be a hero, we have a chance but we can win on Tuesday and be better.

“We need to be strong and not be down because we have a game in three days and we need to be ready.”
