David Moyes was left frustrated as another positive performance ended in defeat.

Much like Saturday’s game at Vicarage Road, Sunderland enjoyed large spells on top but they were unable to turn their dominance into goals and Leicester City made them pay.

Substitute Islam Slimani opened the scoring before Victor Anichebe struck the post, and Jamie Vardy had the final say with the England international’s rasping finish sealing a 2-0.

Speaking post-match Moyes admitted he’s unable to fault his players’ commitment, but he was disappointed at their failure to once again take their chances.

"It was a positive performance but once again we’ve come away without any points,” said the Sunderland manager.

“I thought we played quite well; we were in the game for all the first half and the start of the second, so I’m disappointed to leave empty-handed.”

He continued: “I cannot fault the players and I’ve not all season, tonight they went out there with big energy and gave a big effort in the game.

“I don’t think Leicester played particularly well and we did a good job against them, but it just wasn’t good enough.”
