Interview: Bracewell previews France trip

Paul Bracewell has revealed his excitement ahead of Sunderland’s upcoming pre-season tour to France.

Based in Evian, the Black Cats will face three games with the bulk of their pre-season matches taking place during the trip following domestic friendlies against Hartlepool United and Rotherham United.

Bracewell and first-team coach Robbie Stockdale took charge of the latter with new manager David Moyes watching from the stands, and speaking to safc.com the club’s assistant manager explained why the trip to France provides the perfect chance for the Scotsman to settle into his new surroundings.

“It was a very hot on Saturday and we started fairly slowly but I thought we grew into the game,” reflected Bracewell. “Most of the lads got close to 90 minutes but we managed to get everyone through, and we have three tough games coming up in France.

“The younger lads featured again and most of them will be involved on Monday while the other lads recover, so it is another good chance for them to show what they can do in front of the new boss.”

He continued: “I know David well and I’ve met him in the past so I’m delighted he’s come in.
“He will want to get his teeth into it straight away and he’s had a chance to look at most of the players. “We also have John and Seb meeting up with us in France, and Billy, Catts and Jan will also be available so we will have a full squad there.”
