U23s: Dickman eyes strong finish to 2017

Elliott Dickman is targeting all three points when his side travel to Tottenham Hotspur this evening.

Sunderland under-23s round off their set of fixtures for 2017 tonight at the Lamex Stadium, kick-off 7pm, when they face Spurs in the Premier League 2.

With both sides battling at the wrong end of the table, Dickman has urged his players to learn off their previous disappoints this season and dig deep to end the year on a high.

“We want to win every game,” he said.

“If any player of any age goes into a game not thinking that then they need to get a different career.

“From my perspective, of course we would love to win.

“We want to go there on Tuesday and give a good account of ourselves and we want to try and win the game.

“We have played well in games, but we probably haven’t been as ruthless as we could’ve been in the final third,” he continued.

“We have given cheap goals away but in terms of our players' individual development it has been a positive first-half of a season because some of the lads have featured for the first team and that, ultimately, is what it is all about.
