Fearless: Honeyman hoping to feature

George Honeyman is hoping for more minutes after featuring against Burnley on Tuesday night.

The midfielder made his first senior start for the club in Tuesday’s Emirates FA Cup replay at Turf Moor, as goals from Sam Vokes and Andre Gray ensured the Clarets’ progression.

Speaking post-match, the 23-year-old was disappointed with the result and admitted he wanted to have a bigger impact on the game, but it did little to dampen his hunger for further first-team opportunities.

“I want to set up goals, score goals and make the team play; I didn’t do any of those on Tuesday so I’m disappointed, but I worked as hard as I could and that’s got to be the minimum.

“I hope to be involved [this weekend] and if the manager sees fit to play me at West Brom, I’ll be more than happy to try and take my chance.

“I’m lucky because I like to think I don’t play with any fear,” continued Honeyman. “I’ll try and get on the ball and create positive energy in the group by running about and helping the lads as much as I can.

“We’re not in a new situation and the boys have been here before, but it’s a tough patch with injuries and so on but there’s a few coming back and I’ve got no doubt that we’ll get some momentum.

“We’ll get a scrappy win somewhere and things will change, so we just have to keep our belief and focus on making sure we get it in the next game.”
