Seb Larsson and Vito Mannone will feature in Wednesday’s Checkatrade Trophy game along with a host of other first-team players, Robbie Stockdale has confirmed.
The Swedish midfielder clocked his first 45 minutes of the season last Friday and came through unscathed as Sunderland under-23s defeated Blackburn Rovers.
Larsson will now be handed some more game time as he continues his road to recovery along with Jason Denayer, Donald Love and potentially Adnan Januzaj.
“Seb will play but we aren’t putting a timescale on how long he is going to play,” he said. “Between the two of us we will figure that out and how the game goes on and pans out.
“We are looking to Vito to make his comeback game, Jason and Donald will play and we are still talking about whether or not Adnan needs a game or not.”
He continued: “We are certainly looking at three or four senior players to compliment the younger ones.”
