International round-up: Khazri scores, McNair features

Jordan Pickford – England 3-0 Scotland

Jordan Pickford was an unused substitute as England cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Scotland at Wembley on Friday.

Daniel Sturridge headed the Three Lions in front on 24 minutes before two goals in 16 second-half minutes from Adam Lallana and Gary Gahill sealed victory for Gareth Southgate’s side.

The result leaves England top of group F in their 2018 World Cup qualification campaign.

Lynden Gooch – USA 1-2 Mexico

Lynden Gooch didn’t feature on Friday as USA were trumped at home to Mexico in their opening match of their final round standings.

Mexico left it late after Miguel Layun’s first-half strike was cancelled out by Bobby Wood, Layun turned provider in the closing stages as Rafael Marquez netted an 89th minute winner.

Wahbi Khazri – Libya 0-1 Tunisia

Wahbi Khazri scored a penalty against Libya as Tunisia maintained their 100% start in their 2018 World Cup qualification campaign on Friday evening.

The results sees Tunisia stay top of group A with two wins from two. They are also yet to concede and have netted three times at the other end.

Paddy McNair – Northern Ireland 4-0 Azerbaijan

Paddy McNair came off the bench as Northern Ireland secured a seismic three points in their 2018 World Cup qualification .

Two goals in either half from Kyle Laffery, Gareth McCauley, Conor McLaughlin and Steven Davis sealed all three points against Azerbaijan.

The result means O’Neill’s side have moved up to second in group C, crucially above Azerbaijan on goal difference.

John O’Shea – Austria 0-1 Republic of Ireland

John O’Shea was an unused substitute as Republic of Ireland collected a crucial three points Austria to move top of their 2018 World Cup qualification group last night.

James McClean scored the game’s only goal as Martin O’Neill’s side continued their unbeaten run in group D.

The victory has moved Ireland top of their group, two points clear of Serbia and crucially four ahead of Wales.

Lamine Kone – Morocco 0-0 Ivory Coast

Lamine Kone featured for 90 minutes as Ivory Coast were held at Morocco in their 2018 World Cup qualifier on Saturday evening.

The result has left Michel Dussuyer’s side top of group C with four points from their opening two games.
