Cutting edge: Larsson up for the fight

Seb Larsson has rallied the red and white army ahead of Saturday’s trip to Burnley.

The midfielder returned to the starting XI for the Boxing Day defeat at Manchester United as international team-mate Zlatan Ibrahimovic stole the show, be he insists there is no time to dwell on what might have been at Old Trafford.

On New Year’s Eve the Black Cats head to Turf Moor where the Clarets have been in sensational form, with Sean Dyche’s side picking up 19 of their 20 points at home.

But Larsson isn’t looking beyond Sunderland’s performance and is relishing the fight.

“We made some defensive errors against Man Utd and that cost us the points, but we can’t afford to dwell on that because points are what we are fighting for.

“We’ve shown we are willing to fight already this season and that’s going to be crucial because we know more points are at stake.”

He continued: “We need to take our chances when they fall our way and make sure we get something out of the game.

“We have been in this position before so we know what we've got to do and it’s all about picking up points.

“Points are what we need and that’s got to be our focus when we go to Burnley.”
