Top facts: Get to know Jason Denayer

Born in Brussels, Jason Deneyar started his career with FC Ganshoren and RSC Anderlecht before joining the JMG Academy in Lier at the age of 13.

The defender moved to Manchester City in 2013 following a successful trial at the Etihad Stadium, featuring in the club’s UEFA Youth League campaign during which he made eight appearances.

Denayer joined Celtic on loan for the 2014-15 season and he enjoyed an immensely successful campaign in the Scotland, scoring six goals in 44 appearances as the Hoops won the SPL title and the Scottish League Cup.

His spell at Celtic ended with a personal accolade as he picked up the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award, while he was also named the Celtic Young Player of the Year and named in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year.

The 2015-16 season saw the Belgium international loaned out for a second time as he joined Turkish side Galatasaray, where he went on to make 28 appearances.

His final match for the Turkish side came on 26 May 2016 when he assisted the only goal of the game as Galatasaray won the Turkish Cup thanks to Lukas Podolski’s strike.

Just 21, Denayer already has UEFA Champions League and Europa League experience.

The defender has represented Belgium at a number of levels including under-19 and under-21, with his senior debut coming in 2015 when he featured against Israel.

Denayer represented the Red Devils at Euro 2016 starting against Wales at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, Lille.
