Defender sums up defeat to Gunners.Sunderland defender Ondrej Celustka praised the Sunderland supporters as the Black Cats lost out to Arsenal 3-1 at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
Czech defender Celustka says the way in which the fans got behind the players gave his side a boost.
And he urged his teammates to give the supporters something to cheer in next weekend’s clash with West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns.
“The fans were excellent throughout the whole game,” the 24-year-old told safc.com. “They are good supporters for us; even after the game I heard their applause for us and this is great to have them behind us.
“For us it was tough because Arsenal are a big team; one of the best in the world.
“We had some very good parts in the game and for us we have to take advantage - in the next match against West Brom as well.”
Celustka felt the Black Cats deserved more from the clash with the Gunners, adding:
“We can be disappointed with the result because although we didn’t play well in the first half, the second half was much better.
“We scored the goal for 1-1, and we had another good chance to score for 2-1, but then we conceded and that moment was not good for us.
“Then it became difficult for us."
