Women’s FA Cup quarter-final draw made.
Sunderland WFC will welcome Super League side Liverpool to Eppleton CW in the quarter-finals of the Women’s FA Cup.
The Lady Black Cats, who are unbeaten this season, will host the Reds on Sunday 31st March with a place in the last four at stake.
Reacting to the draw, manager Mick Mulhern told safc.com: “It’s a massive test for us.
“Liverpool destroyed Aston Villa over the weekend [a 5-0 away win to secure a quarter-final place] and are a very good side.”
Sunderland reached the FA Cup Final in 2009 and are chasing a third successive league crown having also won the Premier League Cup last season.
Liverpool, meanwhile, finished bottom of the Super League last season but have revitalised their squad in the summer, bringing in a whole host of new players including USA international Whitney Engen.
Mulhern added: “They are putting together a very good side with some quality internationals and are fancied as one of [champions] Arsenal’s rivals this season.
“I’m looking forward to the test.”
