Winger looking forward to BAT Final.
Despite having a number of friends in the Manchester City squad, former Blue Adam Johnson has revealed there will be no old pals’ act when Sunderland face them in the Barclays Asia Trophy Final.
The winger, who scored the winning goal the last time the two teams met, is looking forward to the clash and the opportunity to kick the season off with silverware.
“I always look forward to playing against Man City,” Johnson told safc.com.
“Theirs is the first result I look out for on a Saturday after ours, I’ve got some good friends there still and it’s a cracking fixture for a pre-season friendly.”
Johnson has been to Hong Kong a number of times throughout his career, but this is his first experience of the Barclays Asia Trophy
“It’s been a good test for the teams involved and we’ve had plenty of opportunity to work on our fitness,” he continued, “the weather has perhaps spoilt the opportunity for free-flowing football, but other than that I’ve enjoyed it.
“One nice thing is that there’s the chance of a prize at the end of it, which makes it a little more exciting and Sunderland would like to leave Hong Kong as winners.”
