Presentation evening held at the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland WFC celebrated their monumental FA Women’s Premier League success over the weekend at their presentation evening held in Quinn’s Bar in the Stadium of Light.
Around a hundred players, staff, family, friends and sponsors gathered on Saturday night for the club's End of Season Awards.
The Lady Black Cats celebrated another very successful season; retaining the FA National Premier League title for the third consecutive year, whilst Mick Mulhern’s side were also granted a licence to ply their trade in next year’s Women’s Super League.
Club captain Steph Bannon and leading goalscorer Beth Mead picked up a joint award for Manager’s Player of the Season whilst Rachael Laws was voted as the top performer by her peers.
Youngster Abbey Joice was voted Most Improved Player whilst Megan Beer, Jane Riddell and Jordan Atkinson were rewarded for their form in the reserve team.
The club’s volunteers were thanked by the players for their continued support – particularly that of chairman Maurice Alderson, who drove home the bid for the WSL.
The night finished on a lighter note, with Bannon presenting the players' own awards, ranging from 'Biggest Moaner' to 'Best at keeping the doctor at work', to round off an enjoyable evening.
