Raich Carter secures a derby victory for Sunderland.

1985 – Eric Gates and Gary Bennett scored in a 2-1 home win over Brighton and Hove Albion.

1964 – Sunderland retained top spot in Division Two after a 2-1 win at Swansea thanks to goals from Charlie Hurley and Nick Sharkey.

1935 – Raich Carter got both goals in a 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough. It was the sixth consecutive game in which he found the net.
