Solar Farm: SAFC partner with Cundall

Sunderland AFC is delighted to announce Cundall as the Club’s new Solar Farm Project Partner.

A multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy, the organisation is supporting SAFC’s planning application for the installation of a 40MW solar farm at the Academy of Light.

If approved, the solar farm – one of the largest in the United Kingdom – will provide clean renewable electricity for the benefit of the wider community.

Cundall has 26 offices globally and 1,200 consulting staff and designers, who are committed to delivering zero carbon design on all projects by 2030.

Founded in the North East, they are globally renowned for designing and delivering sustainable solutions across the built environment.

Their projects include the Riverside Sunderland redevelopment, Ed Sheeran’s +-= ÷x worldwide tour, the All English Lawn Tennis Club Indoor Tennis Centre, and Eden in New Bailey, which is the first new build in the UK to achieve a 5.5* NABERS ‘Design Reviewed’ target rating.

The Academy of Light solar development is a core part of SAFC’s sustainability strategy, which aims to ensure the Club becomes energy self-sufficient from renewable sources by 2028.
