Oliver's Campaign: Fundraising for young supporter's treatment

Saturday's game with Burnley is being used as a vital opportunity to bolster the fundraising for Oliver’s Campaign.

Our special mascots leading the two teams out on Saturday afternoon will be seven-year-old supporter Oliver and his two triplet brothers.

Oliver is from Sunderland, his favourite colour is blue, and he is a cheeky chap. But, the lives of Oliver and his family were turned upside-down on 19 February 2021, when the youngster was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma – a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer. Oliver is currently undergoing frontline treatment at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

Despite Oliver doing as well as expected in his progress, neuroblastoma unfortunately has a high relapse rate, meaning there is a high chance the cancer could return in the future.

Alongside the Bradley Lowery Foundation, Oliver’s family and the community are looking to raise £260,000 to fund a treatment called the Bivalent vaccine at a hospital in New York.

With Bradley’s family having tragically gone through the same heartbreak from neuroblastoma, the Foundation are working closely with Oliver’s family to look to raise the money – currently, just over half of the total amount has been raised!

But we need your help.

All this week and during Saturday's matchday, you can text OLIVER to 70450 to donate £2 to help Oliver’s fight.

The online link to donate to Oliver’s fundraising page is also available here: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/Oliversfightagainstneuroblastoma

Also be sure to keep an eye out for a bucket collection for Oliver organised by the Bradley Lowery Foundation throughout matchday this weekend, outside and around the Stadium of Light and in the hospitality suites.

Let’s all keep pushing – we’re over halfway there – and get Oliver, one of our own, the treatment he so dearly needs.
