A sell out away crowd will give be backing Gus Poyet’s side as the Black Cats travel to Fulham at the weekend, on the back of three home games in six days.
More than 1,800 Sunderland fans will make the 564-mile round trip to the capital, making a total of 1,564 miles covered to support their team away from home in the last 14 days.
Sunderland captain John O’Shea said: “We have had exceptional support home and away all season and all the lads really appreciate it.
“It’s great when you can hear the Sunderland fans singing in any ground we play in. They have been great.”
As part of a Premier League-wide initiative to encourage more away support, SAFC gave season card holders a discount of £10 off the cost of their match ticket for the clash at Craven Cottage, having already offered discounts for this season’s Barclays Premier League away games against West Ham United, Stoke City and Swansea City.
The club has also confirmed plans to offer further discounts on tickets for season card holders attending away games against Liverpool, Norwich City, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea later this season. Further details on ticket prices and how to apply will be announced in due course.
A Sunderland season card holder attending these away fixtures will be able to enjoy a saving of £80 over the course of the season, thanks to the initiative.
Sunderland have also discounted tickets for the forthcoming Tyne-Wear derby by £20, in addition to those games discounted under the Premier League scheme. The club has sold out of its full allocation of tickets for the fixture.
