PROFILE

It is probable there has never been a more popular player at Roker Park than this dazzling little Scot.

With 61 goals in his time at Sunderland, Connor was a thoughtful player with few thrills but with a powerful strike.

Bob Paisley, the famous Liverpool Manager, voted Jimmy Connor the best player he had ever seen as a child in his autobiography, with the outside-left's finest moment coming in 1936 when he scored the winner in a 5-4 win over reigning champions Arsenal en route to winning Division One.
