More than £50,000 raised at glitzy event.

Sunderland AFC stars took to the catwalk on Tuesday night to help raise over £50,000 for the club’s official charity, Foundation of Light.

Club captain Lee Cattermole and six other first team players kicked off the fund-raising extravaganza in style by strutting their stuff at the annual Fashion Strikes show in an evening of glitz, glamour, auctions and musical performances with a James Bond theme.

Guests enjoyed a drinks reception and a four course meal courtesy of sponsors 3663, before being wowed by the Black Cats stars who took a turn on the catwalk, along with professional models and children who have excelled in a number of Foundation of Light courses over the past year.

X-Factor finalist Carolynne Poole performed a number of well known hits before the second half of the fashion show saw the first team players, accompanied by models,  showcasing a range of fashions from House of Fraser.

Foundation of Light Chief Executive Lesley Spuhler said: “This was our fifth Fashion Strikes event and we’re delighted to have been able to introduce new elements to keep our guests entertained.

“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to House of Fraser, 3663 and Reds Hair and Beauty for supporting this year’s event in such style.  Our musical performers Kings of Kool and Carolynne Poole really livened up proceedings and anyone who attended would also agree that our young models stole the show!

“Finally I’d like to thank the Sunderland AFC players and the club whose fantastic support makes all of this possible.”
