Preview: Lasses take on Sheffield United at Eppleton

Sunderland Women are looking for their second home win in a row as they host Sheffield United Women in the Barclays Women’s Championship on Sunday (KO 12pm).

 

The Lasses were victorious at Eppleton last time out, beating Coventry United 3-0 with Katy Watson, Abbey Joice and Brianna Westrup all on the scoresheet.

 

Opposition

 

Sheffield United currently sit 11th - two places behind Sunderland - with 14 points from 16 games, scoring 19 and conceding the same amount.

 

The Blades have won two of the last five games in the league, beating second-placed London City and Charlton.

 

Courtney Sweetman-Kirk and 17-year-old Mia Enderby are both on four league goals so far this campaign, with both scoring in their last away outing against London City.

 

Head coach Jonathan Morgan joined Sheffield United in February following the departure of Neil Redfearn and took charge of his first game in the Blades’ last outing – a 1-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace.
