Sunderland Women Head Coach Mel Reay has been awarded the Barclays Women’s Championship Manager of the Month award for January by the League Managers’ Association panel.
Reay led the Lasses to two victories last month, first in the River Wear Derby as the side won 3-2 at Eppleton, and in the following week with a 3-1 away win against Birmingham.
Reay offered her thoughts on a “successful” month upon winning the award.
“We’ve had a really successful month in terms of results on the pitch and I think it’s a reward for all the staff who work really hard behind the scenes.
“There’s no stone goes unturned and the players are now putting in performances that are getting positive results which is pleasing for everyone at the football club.”
