Women News: Steph Libbey signs full-time contract

SAFC Women are delighted to announce Steph Libbey has signed a full-time contract with the Club.

The Assistant Head Coach, who has been working alongside Mel Reay since the side’s promotion to the Women’s Championship in 2021, will now operate as part of the Lasses’ coaching staff on a full-time basis.

Upon completion of the deal, Libbey said: “I’m delighted to sign full-time here. It’s been something I’ve been working towards for a long time on and off the pitch, ensuring I’m ready for that transition into a full-time capacity.

“I’ve been at my current place for over 10 years, and they’ve always been really supportive, and I’ve got a lot to thank them for. But I think both parties now know that the time is right to move on.

“The game is demanding a number of full-time staff and the Club are backing what we’re trying to do. We’ve been really strategic in what and who we’re appointing – good people as well as good professionals who will add value to what we’re doing on and off the pitch.”

Libbey went on to credit Head Coach Reay and the Lasses squad, who now look to continue an exciting project.

"Mel’s a fantastic Head Coach with a great vision of how she wants to play the game, and the Club aligns with my values. I’m delighted for us to hopefully progress into a force of the women’s game.”

“I love working with what is a fantastic group of players. They’re hard-working, but also fantastic people – and they make coming into work every day really enjoyable.

“I’m excited for what we can do moving forward. It’s fantastic to be making this step alongside Mel and the team, and we’re looking to build on what we achieved last season at Championship level.”
