Sunderland Women are on the road again this week as they travel to Bamber Bridge to take on Blackburn Rovers Ladies in the Barclays Women’s Championship (KO 2pm).
The Lasses are looking to bounce back after last week’s 1-0 defeat at St. Mary’s against Southampton, with the Saints’ Ella Pusey grabbing the only goal.
Team news
A clean bill of health is expected for Sunday’s game, with no further injuries to report.
Keira Ramshaw, Faye Mullen, Abby Towers and Emily Hutchinson are still unavailable through long-term injuries.
Opposition
Blackburn are currently eighth in the division, with eight points from seven games. Last season, Gemma Donnelly’s side finished 10th in the Championship – one place below the Lasses – with 17 points.
Rovers are unbeaten in the last three league games, claiming five points in that time, with their previous result a 0-0 draw away against London City Lionesses last weekend.
Last season at the Sir Tom Finney Stadium, the home side claimed a 2-1 victory, with the Lasses taking all three points in the reverse fixture at the start of the campaign with a 2-0 win.
The hosts’ Saffron Jordan is currently joint second top scorer in the league with five goals so far. The forward scored at Bamber Bridge against Sunderland in March.
