Interview:
Reay reacts to Hibs win

Mel Reay offered her reaction to another encouraging result as the Lasses beat Hibernian Women 3-1 at the Academy of Light.

“I thought it was really competitive and certainly the toughest game that we’ve had so far which was good,” the Head Coach said.

“Coming off the back of a three-game week, they’ve really been put through it physically.

“There were lots of individual battles all over.

“In possession I thought we were really good in the first half, and certainly out of possession we were really hard to beat in the second half.

“We tried out a different formation which again just gives us different options as we go ahead into the new season.”

A double from Nicki Gears and a goal from Grace Ede meant Sunderland came away with their third win in pre-season, and Reay spoke of the impact of the debutant.

Reay continued: “I’m delighted for Nicki [Gears].

“It’s obviously her first minutes in pre-season so I’m delighted for her to get on the scoresheet and hopefully that’s the start of many to come.”
