Ladies Report: London City Lionesses 3-1 SAFC Ladies

London City Lionesses 3-1 SAFC Ladies

SAFC Ladies suffered defeat against London City Lionesses at Princes Park Stadium in the FA Women’s Championship on Sunday afternoon.

Goals from Atlanta Primus and Karin Muya in the first half, and a second-half goal from Amy Rodgers, meant the home side claimed the three points.

Keira Ramshaw grabbed a goal back from the penalty spot in stoppage time at the end of the match.

London took an early lead in the fourth minute as the cross was knocked down, and Primus volleyed a shot into the bottom corner.

The second goal almost came in the 13th minute after a shot on the left side, but Jessica Brown reacted brilliantly to clear the ball off the line.

The home side however did double their lead after Jamie-Lee Napier’s shot was parried by Allison Cowling and Muya scored the follow-up.

The third goal came in the 60th minute as Amy Rodgers latched onto a cross and slotted her shot past Cowling.

The Lasses enjoyed a positive spell in the last 20 minutes, and Neve Herron played a diagonal ball over the top to Ramshaw, who controlled well and got a shot off, but the goalkeeper held onto it.

A penalty was awarded on the 90-minute mark for Sunderland, as Ramshaw confidently converted to grab a goal back for the Lasses.

Mel Reay’s side now have a week to prepare for their second away fixture of January as they make the trip to East Sussex to play Lewes Women.
