Women's Head Coach: Reay on crucial Coventry trip

Mel Reay offered her thoughts ahead of a crucial Barclays Women’s Championship game against Coventry United tomorrow on the road.

Reay discussed the significance of the match, with the Lasses looking to get back to winning ways.

“It’s an important game,” Reay said.

“It’s another opportunity to get some points on the board.

“It would be a good opportunity to go into the second half of the season following a successful game.”

The Lasses Head Coach also provided an update on the squad’s injury situation heading into the game.

“We’re still managing Katy Watson coming back injured from playing for England.

“Louise Griffiths has picked up a niggle during the week so again, she’ll be monitored for Sunday and everyone else is available.”

With a tough test against WSL side Manchester City in the Conti Cup last week, Reay highlighted the need to take the positive aspects of the performance into tomorrow’s game and going forward.

“It’s a totally different challenge.

“Manchester City are a really tough opponent, but I was really pleased with certain moments of the game where we kept them quiet.

“We showed how good we are as a unit from front to back at times, and that needs to remain the case going forward into the second half of the season.

“We’ve been working a lot on finishing the attack and finding the back of the net this week in training and hopefully we’ll see some reward on Sunday.”
