Ladies Report: SAFC Ladies 0-0 Coventry United Ladies

SAFC Ladies 0-0 Coventry United Ladies

The spoils were shared at Eppleton as Sunderland Ladies earned a point at home against Coventry United Ladies in the FA Women’s Championship.

Chances were few and far between for both sides as the Lasses went three games unbeaten and claimed their 10th point from the last five games.

Emily Scarr and Abby Towers were both ruled out through injury, with Keira Ramshaw and Louise Griffiths returning to the starting line-up.

Both sides had half-chances in the early period of the game, with the first shot for the Lasses coming from Neve Herron, but it went over the bar.

Coventry’s Elisha N’Dow got into the box at the end of the first half, but her resulting shot went well wide of the right post.

Abby Joice broke down the right wing at the start of the second half and crossed to Maria Farrugia, but her shot couldn’t hit the target.

Mel Reay’s side enjoyed a threatening period at the end of the game, with Faye Mullen unleashing a powerful long-ranged effort on the right side, forcing a good stop from Coventry goalkeeper, Lucy Thomas.

Minutes later, Emma Kelly threaded a pass through to Jessica Brown, who drove a right-footed shot low across the ‘keeper, who made another strong save.

The Lasses go into the break on a good run of form, with three weeks to prepare for the Wear Derby against Durham.
