Preview: Sunderland Ladies vs Lewes Women

Sunderland AFC Ladies are back in FA Women’s Championship action on Sunday when they take on Lewes FC Women at the Stadium of Light at 2pm.

Mel Reay’s side sit top of the league as they return after the international break, with two wins and a draw from their opening fixtures.

Opposition

Sunday’s visitors make the long journey to the North East having won one and last one of their opening two games, leaving them in 10th place.

The Sussex-based side finished fifth in last season’s Championship with 38 points, and will once again be aiming for promotion to the Super League.

Team news

New recruit Iris Achterhof is available for selection after signing a non-contract deal on Wearside on Friday.

While club captain Keira Ramshaw is also expected to be fully fit after coming off the bench and scoring against Crystal Palace Women before the international break.
