Cardiff City 0-2 Sunderland AFC

Sunderland kicked off the Easter weekend with a resounding victory against Cardiff City.

Adil Aouchiche’s penalty and a poacher’s finish from Jobe was enough to send Mike Dodds’ side back with three points.

Opportunity struck in the first ten minutes when the Lads seized upon a loose pass before Jobe was felled in the box. Aouchiche stepped up from 12 yards and slammed the ball high into the net to give the away side the lead.

Ethan Horvath prevented the Lads from doubling their lead minutes later when a scrambled from a corner fell at the feet of Trai Hume but his effort was well held by the 'keeper.

Dodds’ side maintained pressure when a cleared corner fell to Dan Neil who bent his effort just over the bar.

The lead was doubled when Aouchiche turned provider and saw his low cross dispatched by Jobe at the back post for his seventh goal of the season.

Into the second half and Neil kept his chase for a goal as he found space in the box but his bending effort flew just around the post.

Nat Phillips' header from a Cardiff corner clipped the top of the bar before Abdoullah Ba bent his shot wide from the left. But the game belonged to the Lads as they saw out the result in the Welsh capital and ended Good Friday with three points.
