Red & White: Mowbray's Luton programme notes

Tony Mowbray has welcomed supporters to the Stadium of Light for our second home game in under 72 hours, in his Red & White programme notes sponsored by Rorack Shipping Ltd.

Good afternoon and welcome back to the Stadium of Light for today’s game against Luton Town.

I’d like to welcome Rob Edwards and his side, and the Luton Town supporters making the long journey from Bedfordshire.

Looking back at Wednesday’s narrow defeat against Sheffield United, I thought that on the balance of play we deserved more from the game.

The winning goal was a tough one to take, but the players rallied and we had a number of chances to claim a point.

Patrick Roberts hit the post, their ‘keeper made a great save from Jack Clarke and unfortunately we couldn’t find the equaliser.

I was delighted for Edouard Michut to score his first professional goal, it was a great finish – he’s growing as a player and will only get better.

We see his finishing technique in training every day, so it was great to see him take that into a game.

Your backing was brilliant as ever on Wednesday and almost pushed us on to find a late goal – we’ll need you again today in what will be another tough test.

Luton sit in fourth place and only Burnley have picked up more points away from home this season – we need to be ready to match their intensity and physicality.

As I mentioned in my previous programme notes, we’ve beaten some of the top teams in the division at home, so we should go into the match full of confidence that we can cause them problems.

We have shown time and time again this season that we can be creative and attack teams, and as always, we’ll set out to do the same today.

Enjoy the game and we’ll see you after the international break.

Tony Mowbray
