One of the stories of the weekend for our loanees came from the AESSEAL New York Stadium where the adverse weather brought a grinding halt to Bailey Wright’s weekend.
Rotherham United were trailing by a goal to nil against Cardiff City with Wright starting the game from the off. However, a freak storm event swept it’s way through South Yorkshire forcing the officials to abandon the match in the 48th minute.
With Ipswich Town gaining serious momentum in League One, Jay Matete helped Plymouth Argyle keep their grip on an automatic promotion place.
Matete was a 70th minute substitute in their 2-0 win over Forest Green Rovers as they kept hold of second place.
Ipswich have won their last six games without conceding a goal and sit two points behind Argyle. It was Carl Winchester who was on the receiving end of the Tractor Boys sizzling run of form as they lost 2-0 to them on Saturday.
Winchester, who made his 33rd appearance of the season for the Shrews, played 90 minutes but could do nothing to help their slim hopes of reaching the play-offs.

In the Swiss Super League, Leon Dajaku was a second half substitute for St Gallen but they dropped to fourth in the table after a 1-0 loss to Winterthur.
Julian von Moos was sent off after two minutes which gave Dajaku and co. little chance of getting a result from the game. The German made his eighth appearance for the Swiss outfit.
In National League North, Nathan Newall played a full 90 minutes for Darlington as they sealed an emphatic 3-0 victory over Hereford. Their victory means the Quakers sit fifth in the table occupying a play-off spot.
Midfielder Owen Robinson, currently on loan at Northern Premier League side Lancaster City, scored a penalty in a 2-1 win over Belper Town. It was his first goal for the club having recently signed.
Connor Pye and Tom Chiabi both came on for Morpeth Town in their 3-2 win over Stalybridge Celtic - the game was Chiabi's debut as he made a late cameo to see out the victory from 2-0 down.
