In Focus: Get to know Jobe Bellingham

Get to know our latest recruit Jobe Bellingham who has completed a permanent move from Birmingham City.

At the tender age of 17, Jobe arrives on Wearside having already gained first-team pedigree thanks to his rapid ride through the youth ranks with the Blues.

A tall midfielder who is comfortable on the ball, Bellingham has grown his game to become a competitive midfielder who links the play to the attacking lines and likes to get forward himself.

The younger brother of Jude, who is set to complete a permanent move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, made his Sky Bet Championship debut at 16 years of age in January 2022 during a 1-1 draw with Preston North End at Deepdale. He would go on to make his St Andrews bow in their final game of the league season which finished in a 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers.

Having amassed just over 30 minutes of first-team football in his first season, Jobe would gain more minutes this season making five starts out of 22 appearances in total. Bellingham would go on to feature in Birmingham’s eight remaining games of the season as John Eustace’s side would go on to finish 17th in the table and secure their Championship status.

The growing potential for Jobe to become a huge talent in the game has not gone unnoticed and his progression was recently highlighted by his captain Troy Deeney. The striker said: “He has just turned 17. He’s put on 10 kilograms this year – he is going to be an absolute monster.”

With an exciting future to come for the Three Lions starlet, the Club’s emphasis on blooding youth through the heart of the team holds the promise of an exciting future for both the player and the team.

After representing England’s Under-18’s in a recent training camp, Bellingham linked up with the first-team squad for the pre-season schedule after an extended break and has already been involved in the Club's pre-season preparations.
