International Round-Up: Four players in action

During the past week’s international break, several of our first-team players were away representing their nations. Here’s how they fared…

Corry Evans – Northern Ireland: Corry was once again called up by Ian Baraclough for Northern Ireland’s UEFA Nations League group fixtures with Kosovo and Greece. The midfield man started and played 76 minutes in the nation’s 2-1 victory over Kosovo in Belfast on Saturday, and was an unused substitute during Tuesday’s 3-1 defeat to Greece in Athens – a match which marked an historic 100th cap for brother Jonny, also formerly of the Lads.

Jewison Bennette – Costa Rica: Jewison continued his inspired form into the international break as he followed up his first goal in English football against Watford with a brace against South Korea at the Goyang Stadium. The teenager’s two goals turned the game on its head to put the Costa Ricans 2-1 to the good, before a late Heung-Min Son equaliser. Jewison was then an unused substitute on Tuesday morning, as his nation dramatically hit two stoppage-time goals to beat Uzbekistan 2-1, also in Korea.

Trai Hume – Northern Ireland U21: Trai was part of the Green and White Army’s Under-21 squad for their two friendly matches with Scotland over the past week. The full-back played 90 minutes in both games, in which a 3-1 defeat last Thursday was followed up with a 1-1 draw on Sunday.

Abdoullah Ba – France U20: Abdoullah was called up for the French Under-20 side for three friendly matches across the international period. The first two both came against Tunisia and each resulted in draws (1-1 and 0-0), before a 3-1 loss to Tunisian club side Club Africain.
