Dajaku makes debut as Johnson makes eight changes

Lee Johnson has made eight changes to his starting XI from the weekend as Sunderland take on Wigan Athletic in the Carabao Cup third round at the DW Stadium (KO 7:45pm).

Bailey Wright, Luke O'Nien and Dennis Cirkin are the trio to keep their places, with Leon Dajaku making his debut for the club in Lancashire.

Corry Evans returns to the starting line-up to captain the side, with Aiden O'Brien leading the line having already netted four times in the competition this season - including a hat-trick in the last round at Blackpool.

Frederik Alves, Niall Huggins and Alex Pritchard are also among those to start, with Lee Burge in goal. Youngster Ellis Taylor is named on the bench, alongside Ross Stewart, Tom Flanagan and Elliot Embleton.
