Loan Watch: Diamond and Hawkes score, Patterson clean sheet

Each week on safc.com, we will be giving a brief guide updating supporters on how our loanees are getting on at their temporary clubs.

With several players out gaining first-team experience, here’s how they recently fared…

Jack Diamond has enjoyed an excellent start to his second loan spell at Harrogate Town. The Yorkshiremen raced into a 5-0 half-time lead against Scunthorpe United on Saturday at the EnviroVent Stadium, Diamond claiming a goal and an assist, before going on to be victorious by a 6-1 rout. Town subsequently move into the automatic promotion places in Sky Bet League Two.

Josh Hawkes is also fast becoming a fans’ favourite in League Two, with Tranmere Rovers. The 22-year-old forward netted the opening goal after half-time for the Merseyside outfit as they continued a strong recent run on Friday night, running out 2-0 winners to lift themselves to fifth in the table.

Anthony Patterson kept a clean sheet for Notts County as they enjoyed a 2-0 win at Yeovil Town to move ninth in the National League. Ruben Rodrigues hit both goals in the contest at Huish Park, with Patterson earning plaudits as he limited Yeovil to a blank.

Benji Kimpioka started for Southend United in a difficult 4-0 defeat to Chesterfield at Roots Hall. The Swedish youth international played the first half for the Essex outfit, who will look to improve their form having made their recent managerial change.
