Phil Parkinson took heart from his side’s determination to keep pushing until the end in tonight’s goalless draw with Doncaster Rovers.

The Black Cats drew a blank after being free scoring in recent home games, however, continued their sturdy backline to record their third-straight clean sheet.

In a game of few chances, substitute Duncan Watmore arguably had the pick for Sunderland as he warmed the gloves of the Donny ‘keeper with a header before seeing his point-blank poked effort turned behind in stoppage time.

The result sees Sunderland move up to fifth and extends their unbeaten run to eight games.
