Team news: Ozturk set to return, Lynch back in training

Phil Parkinson believes he has strong options at his disposal to cope with the loss of Australian international Bailey Wright.

The defender, who joined on loan until the end of the season from Championship club Bristol City, will miss between eight to 12 weeks with an ankle ligaments injury sustained at Oxford United on Saturday.

Wright, 27, made five appearances since joining in January, during which time the Lads kept four clean sheets.

However, the injury has now opened the door for Alim Ozturk to return to the starting XI and speaking to the media today Parkinson admitted he is pleased with the options he has to choose from.

“Things like this happen in football and you have got to have the squad available to deal with it,” he said.

“I think we have that and Alim was playing very well when we left him out of the team.

“He took that team professionally and he has trained really well since that.

“He is a very popular player in the squad and with our supporters.

He continued: “They have identified that in the past he has been left out of teams and come back in and always done well.

“He comes back into it and Joel Lynch is back in training.

“We have lost one player, but it gives another player an opportunity.”
