Eyes on the opp:
MK Dons Factfile

MK Dons sealed their return to League One with a huge victory on the final day against Mansfield Town at Stadium MK.

Paul Tisdale took the reins at MK Dons after ending his long spell at Exeter City in the summer of 2018.

He went about creating a squad capable of competing at the top end of the division and the season started well with a seven-game unbeaten run.

Form over Christmas and January was patchy which led to some question marks over whether MK Dons were capable of going up, but a five-game winning run in February put Tisdale’s men back in a great position.

One win from six towards the end of the season looked to have potentially derailed the season, but a final day victory was enough to seal promotion back to League One.

HEAD TO HEAD

Sunderland have faced MK Dons just twice in their history and have came out on top both times.

Those meetings have both came in the League Cup, with the last one coming during our run to the League Cup Final back in 2013-14.

MEMORABLE MEETING

Goals from Craig Gardner and James McClean saw Sunderland dispatch a decent MK Dons side back in 2012.

Lee Cattermole was sent off in the first half which took the Black Cats' quality advantage away from them and made the game a more level playing field.

A second-half wonder striker from Gardner was the difference before McClean sealed the win with a great individual effort.
