Team news: McNulty ruled out of Rochdale trip

Marc McNulty has been ruled out of Sunderland’s Sky Bet League One fixture at Rochdale on Tuesday.

The striker, who opened his goalscoring account for the Black Cats at Accrington Stanley last Tuesday, pulled up after 50 minutes with a hamstring injury in Saturday’s win over Portsmouth.

And while Jack Ross was able to provide a ‘positive’ update regarding the severity of the 27-year-old’s injury, he did admit he will miss the Lads’ midweek trip to Rochdale.

“He’ll miss tomorrow evening,” confirmed Ross.

“He possibly might miss a couple of weeks, but then he looked positive today so hopefully he might be back sooner than expected. It’s still fairly early.

“It’s a hamstring injury, a relatively minor one, but he’ll miss tomorrow evening and then we’ll see how the rest of the week goes for him.”
