Chris Coleman cut a frustrated figure at Loftus Road following Sunderland’s defeat in West London.
After a goalless opening 45, the match sparked to life just three minutes after the interval when Jason Steele was dismissed for handball.
The stopper rushed off his line to cut out a long ball but mistimed his run as the ball bounced up over him.
And with a man advantage QPR took the match to Sunderland, with Ebere Eze calmly slotting home the game’s only goal on the 62nd minute to force the lads to return home empty handed.
Speaking post-match, Coleman delivered his verdict of proceedings in the capital.
“It is not a game where we have been dominated,” he said.
“Sometimes we come off and I think we have not been involved in the game or we have never had a say in the game but that wasn’t the case today.
“In the first half I don’t really remember Jason (Steele) having a save to make.
“I can’t really remember their keeper either having to make one, but it was a tight game.
“Of course, being forced down to 10 just five minutes into the second half was a huge psychological blow.
“But when you are bottom of the league you think here we go again. They got a goal and it wasn’t good defending from us.
“It is hard for me to ask the players for more because they did try,” he continued.
“They worked hard but in vital areas it is just that composure and confidence.
“Another game has passed us by.”
