Team news: Browning out for the season

Ty Browning has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a groin injury.

The on loan defender picked up the injury in the opening 45 minutes of Tuesday night’s Sky Bet Championship defeat to Aston Villa at the Stadium of Light.

And speaking ahead of Sunderland’s next league fixture at Queens Park Rangers, Chris Coleman delivered the news that sees Browning’s season cut short.

The boss also revealed the John O’Shea is a doubt for the weekend, leaving the Black Cats with just Lamine Kone as their only fit centre half.

“We have got one or two players out,” he said.

“Ty Browning will be out for the rest of the season with his groin.

“He has done exactly the same thing as Darron Gibson – that is a blow.

“Sheasy is a doubtful at this point so we are probably looking at one fit centre-half in Lamine.

“Paddy McNair still won’t be available, and Jake Clarke-Salter is suspended – this will be his last game.

“The best-case scenario for Darron Gibson is that he will be back in a month,” he continued.

“It will be three weeks to a month but then, Saturday to Saturday will be a big ask of him.

“We have got what we have got. For 90 minutes of football, the lads who play can’t be afraid of it.

“If you do that then we can get a win.”
