Jon McLaughlin will make his Sunderland debut today when the Lads take on Hartlepool United (KO 3pm).
The goalkeeper, who missed Tuesday’s game against Darlington, features in a starting XI that also includes fellow new signings Tom Flanagan and Dylan McGeouch.
Josh Maja leads the line as George Honeyman, Lynden Gooch and Callum McManaman also play, with Lee Cattermole completing the midfield.
Chris Magure and Bali Mumba are amongst the substitutes, while Benji Kimpioka is also on the bench after impressing for the under-23s in recent weeks.
