Ethan Robson: 'I love putting the shirt on'

Ethan Robson has thanked Sunderland’s supporters for sticking with the team throughout a difficult 2017-18 season.

After being relegated following a 2-1 defeat to Burton Albion, the Lads responded with a battling performance at Fulham that would have been rewarded had key decisions not fallen against them.

Robson, who earned a recall for the trip to Craven Cottage, has started five games since making his debut in an FA Cup tie against Middlesbrough in January.

And the midfielder explained why the club’s supporters can be the catalyst for success next season, and beyond.

“The support on Friday was unbelievable and it’s been like that home and away.

“We need to take their spirit into next season and bounce back hopefully."

He continued: “They were always encouraging us, even though it’s been so hard for them.

“They always come and support us and I can’t thank them enough.

“I played against one or the best teams in the league on Friday and I felt like personally I didn’t do too badly.

“I love putting the shirt on and playing for the team.”
