McManaman:
'Vaughany knew exactly where I was putting it'

Callum McManaman knew exactly where James Vaughan was going to be when he clipped his cross to the back post against Hull City on Saturday.

The 26-year-old cleverly worked his way to the byline with 16 minutes played at the KCOM Stadium before lifting a perfectly weighted cross onto the head of Vaughan who planted his headed into the back of the net.

It was Vaughan’s first goal for the club while McManaman reeled in his own strong start at his new club, having contributed two assists in three appearances.

Speaking to safc.com, McManaman hailed Vaughan’s efforts as the Black Cats were forced to settle for a point on Humberside after David Meyler netted a late deflected leveller.

“It has been decent but I want to score more goals,” he said.

“I’m still not fully fit but I feel like I am getting there and when I can get one goal I can get a few.

“All the lads are gutted we didn’t get the three points, we all felt we fully deserved the win.

“I am made up for Vaughany because I think he needed that for confidence,” he continued.

“He will get a few more now. He knew exactly where I was putting it when I got to the byline, I didn’t even need to tell him.

“He knows what we are going to do, he has seen me play over the years.”
