James Vaughan is a doubt for Sunday’s match at the Riverside, caretaker boss Robbie Stockdale has revealed.
The striker has been a prominent feature so far this season in the Sky Bet Championship, and came off the bench at half-time in Tuesday’s 3-3 draw against Bolton Wanderers when he replaced midfielder Jonny Williams.
However, it looks as though the 29-year-old will miss Sunday’s Tees-Wear clash having picked up a knock, and will instead join Josh Maja and Ty Browning in the treatment room.
"James Vaughan will be missing, he struggled in the back end of Tuesday’s game," he said.
"Josh Maja is still recovering which is a shame because Josh was showing a lot of promise in pre-season. He would have been in and around our senior team without a doubt.
"Ty is well on his way to recovery but is not ready to play yet.
