Interview:
Januzaj keen to utilise Burnley point

Adnan Januzaj believes Sunderland’s point against Burnley provides his team-mates with a platform to pick up more points in their next batch of fixtures.

While it wasn’t the three points David Moyes’ side set out for, the draw brought an end to a run of four straight defeats.

With a clean sheet also in the bag, on-loan Manchester United winger, Januzaj, is targeting momentum when the Black Cats return to action in April following a stop-start March.

Last Saturday’s goalless stalemate at the Stadium of Light saw Moyes’ men created a host of chances with Januzaj, Seb Larsson, Billy Jones and Fabio Borini all going close to clinching a valuable three points.

But while the Black Cats pushed forward in search of a winner late on, Jordan Pickford produced a point-saving stop to deny Sam Vokes as he held off Jason Denayer.

Speaking to safc.com, Januzaj, 21, has admitted his team-mates need to turn the point against Sean Dyche’s side into a positive one when they head to Watford a week on Saturday.

“It won’t be easy but we have shown signs in the last few games,” he said. “We know we need to keep working hard – we can do it.

“We played well (against Burnley) but we missed so many chances.

“It was that kind of day, you can have that every now and then where you miss but hopefully in the next game everything will go in.

“We go the zero at the back which is good, that is the start but now we need to score goals.

“It hasn’t been an easy year but we have to work as a team and everything will be fine,” he continued.

“All the players are now looking for the win, nothing else.”
